Who we are

The Sales Collaborative (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2021/822718/07, is responsible for the personal information collected through www.thesalescollaborative.com. Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), we are the "responsible party".

We are a sales, marketing and systems consultancy for B2B companies in South Africa. This policy explains what we collect through our website, why, who else handles it, and the rights you have.

Information Officer: Manus Mentz, who you can reach at support@thesalescollaborative.com or through the contact form on our website.

We do not collect payment details, create accounts, or buy contact lists. Please do not include special personal information in a message, such as health, religious or financial details: we do not need it to help you.

We use your information to answer you and to make the website better, never to sell it.

Who we share it with

Three service providers handle information for us, each only for the task below and under an agreement that binds them to protect it (POPIA calls them "operators").

We would otherwise share your information only if the law requires it, for example a court order.

Where it is stored

Your information is stored outside South Africa, with providers in countries whose data protection laws, or whose agreements with us, protect it to a standard at least equal to POPIA (section 72).

InformationWhere it is stored
Contact form messagesZoho, in the United States

The website itselfOVHcloud in London, United Kingdom. It holds no personal information and keeps no record of visits

Germany is covered by the EU's General Data Protection Regulation and the United Kingdom by UK GDPR, both comparable to POPIA. Zoho is bound by a data processing agreement with us that requires it to protect your information to a standard at least equal to POPIA.

Cookies and analytics

Our website sets no cookies, which is why it shows no cookie banner. While a tab is open it remembers only your scroll position, so the back button returns you to the same place; that is gone when you close the tab.

  • Analytics without cookies. Our analytics keeps track of a visit only while the page is open. When you come back, you count as a new visitor; we cannot recognise you across visits or follow you to other websites.
  • Your IP address is used only to estimate your country and city, and is then discarded rather than stored.
  • Do Not Track. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, our analytics records nothing about your visit.
  • No recordings, ads or social trackers. We do not record sessions, show adverts, or use advertising or social media tracking. Fonts, images and video come from our own server.
  • The contact form is provided by Zoho inside our page. Zoho may set cookies of its own that it needs to run and secure the form; Zoho's privacy policy covers those.
  • Links to LinkedIn take you to LinkedIn, where its own privacy policy applies.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it, then delete it (POPIA section 14).

InformationHow long we keep it
An enquiry that does not lead to work together24 months after our last contact
An enquiry from someone who becomes a clientFor as long as we work together, then as long as tax and company law require us to keep business records
Website analytics12 months

How we protect it

We keep the personal information we hold to a minimum, and protect what we do hold (POPIA section 19).

  • Every connection to our website is encrypted (HTTPS), and browsers are told never to connect without encryption.
  • Contact form messages are held by Zoho, not on our web server, and only our two directors, Errol van der Merwe and Manus Mentz, can read them.
  • Our web server only serves the website's files. It runs no application that handles your data and keeps no record of visits.
  • Our providers are bound by agreement to keep your information secure and confidential.

If your personal information is ever accessed by someone who should not have it, we will tell the Information Regulator and you as soon as reasonably possible (POPIA section 22).

Your rights

You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted.

  • See it. Ask whether we hold personal information about you and get a copy (POPIA section 23).
  • Correct or delete it. Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date, or to delete it (section 24).
  • Object. Object to our using it for our legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time (section 11(3)).
  • Withdraw consent. Where you agreed to something, such as marketing, you can withdraw that agreement.
  • Complain. Complain to the Information Regulator (see "Complaints").

To make a request, contact our Information Officer at support@thesalescollaborative.com or through the contact form. We will check your identity before we release or change anything, and reply within 30 days. Requests are free, unless the law allows a fee for copies of records; we would tell you first.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell our Information Officer first so we can put it right. You may also complain directly to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
